Odd-even fuel buying: a smooth first day in Badung; even plates on Sunday

On Saturday 17 October, the first day of the scheme, Bali Post reported that buying at a Pertalite station in Kerobokan went smoothly: queues were short, buyers were served in under 10 minutes, and motorbikes with even plates were asked to leave the line. Soldiers and police helped screen vehicles.

Sunday 18 October is for even plates. The scheme runs until Monday 19 October; the latest reports do not state which plates Monday is for, so it is worth checking station signs or staff on the day. Caps stay at 3 litres for motorbikes and 20 litres for cars.

Pertamina: queues gradually easing, situation reviewed daily

Pertamina Patra Niaga said on Saturday afternoon that queues at several Bali stations are improving step by step. Together with the provincial government it is checking queue length, waiting times and traffic around stations every day. It says shipments between 7 and 17 October add up to 48 million litres of Pertalite, about two weeks of supply, and 108 tanker trucks with 465 drivers and crew are delivering to stations under police escort.

Good morning. This is the Bali Morning Brief for Saturday, the seventeenth of October.

We start at the petrol station again. Saturday was the first day of the odd and even system for buying fuel, and in Badung it went smoothly. At a station in Kerobokan the queue was short, people were served in under ten minutes, and motorbikes with even plates were politely asked to come back another day.

Sunday, the eighteenth, is for even plates. The system runs until Monday, but the latest reports don't say which plates Monday is for, so check the signs or ask station staff on the day. The limits stay at three litres for a motorbike and twenty litres for a car.

Pertamina says queues at several stations are getting shorter step by step, and that it is reviewing the situation every day with the provincial government. It says shipments over the past ten days add up to forty eight million litres, which is about two weeks of supply, and more than a hundred tanker trucks are making deliveries with police escorts.

For families, Denpasar's education office has said schools will return to the classroom on Monday, the nineteenth of October. In Badung, keep an eye on school messages over the weekend.

Also in Bali, the Ministry of Agriculture says it has supplied two hundred and five thousand doses of rabies vaccine for animals this year, with another five hundred and eighty thousand donated doses for Bali and East Nusa Tenggara. If you are bitten by a dog, get treatment quickly.

Nationally, the government has delayed the next stage of mandatory halal certification. Small and micro businesses selling food and drinks now have until October twenty twenty eight, and the rule for imported food and drinks also starts in October twenty twenty eight. Markets are closed for the weekend, so the rupiah stays at Friday's level of about eighteen thousand to the US dollar.

On immigration, the immigration office says it is widening its digital checks on foreigners, including the app that hotels and villas use to report foreign guests. From January to September, more than five thousand foreigners were deported across Indonesia.

And the weather for Sunday: cloudy in Badung and Denpasar, up to thirty three degrees, with no warnings. That's the brief. Remember, even plates only at the pump on Sunday. Have a calm weekend.
